Welcome

Scholarship of Teaching and Learning

The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) is the scholarly inquiry into student learning and teaching through evidence-based practice. While many SoTL definitions exist, a widely cited definition is, "The scholarship of teaching and learning invites faculty ... to view teaching as serious, intellectual work, ask good questions about their students' learning, seek evidence in their classrooms that can be used to improve practice, and make this work public so that others can critique it, build on it, and contribute to the wider teaching commons" (Hatch et. al., 2006).

For a basic introduction to SoTL, please read Peter Felton's "Principles of Good Practice in SoTL" from Teaching & Learning Inquiry (2013, volume 1, issue 1, p. 121-125).
